TROUPE CLASSES
For dancers who've completed basics or other prerequisites and with instructor permission, ADP has the following troupe classes:
Sundays, 5-6 p.m. Very limited capacity, with pre-approved instructor consent, because of close-contact COVID precautions.
Learn a wide range of partner dancing from West Coast swing to salsa to traditional ballroom! A new dance style is introduced each month. Come a few minutes early to stretch and get comfortable. Wear smooth-soled shoes.
Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m. In-studio
To help you reach your physical potential, take advantage of Stretch & Reach, a class that incorporates stretching and strengthening exercises for dancers. Open to nonmembers for a $5 drop-in fee.

Nubian dance is a colorful, upbeat folkloric style of dance originating in the Nubian region of Upper Egypt. Rarely are hips involved, and the arms generally move symmetrically on the sides or front and back.

Korean Pop (aka K-Pop) is a genre of popular music originating in South Korea in the 1990s. Known for its successful male and female groups, catchy beats, and signature moves, K-Pop music is hitting international charts now. K-Pop choreographed dances are specifically designed to match the characteristics of the artist’s songs and often creates a performing trend among fans.” Jade, the instructor, has studied and performed various forms of Middle Eastern, East Indian, Latin and Polynesian dances, along with hip hop and K-Pop. Prequisite: one session of Cabaret Basics to help prepare participants; open to ages 14 & up; minors 16 & under must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $30/month; $15 discounted rate for students taking at least 2 hours of other ADP classes weekly.

Learn and practice Middle Eastern rhythms with either a drum (doumbek/darbuka) or finger cymbals (zills/sagat). If you don't have a drum or cymbals, don't worry -- we have spares to share. The Thursday class meets simultaneously with our Cabaret Basics class, giving you a unique opportunity to experience drumming and dancing. $12 drop-in fee applies.

Datura Style is an umbrella term that encompasses the Datura technique and vocabulary for group improvisation. Datura Style™ emerged from innovative dancer Rachel Brice’s years spent integrating, fusing, and distilling several influences in pursuit of a unique personal expression and stylization. It draws inspiration from early and continuing West Coast dancers in the American bellydance and tribal/transnational community.
